The upper harlem was upgraded with cab signals all the way to Wassaic about 10-12 years ago. New Fiber cable was laid along the route from Southeast to Wassaic along with CP cabinets and wayside signals at the 2 or 3 passing sidings. There are meets in the peak-hours when they run 4 trains all the way to/from GCT. I remember the old days when there was a locked box on the Southeast platform that had a direct line to the dispatcher in NYC. Each conductor on a northbound would open the box to call for his warrant to proceed north. |
