If that power could be supplied from another source, OTHER than an idling locomotive, it would have MORE BENEFIT than just quieting these residents. I agree, they moved in next to a rail yard, and they need to accept it. But there ARE solutions to the problem that should be examined. Neither you or I are experts on how cost effective it is to make this kind of a change, but to not look at the possibilities at all is a mistake.As for it costing more to cool a hot train than to keep a train cool all day, that's a fallacy. Let's say it takes 1 hour to cool a given space to 10 degrees below ambient air temperature; to keep that space at that constant temperature for 6 hours the AC must run for 15 minutes every hour, which option has the higher cost? |
