DUMBO and Loisaida are not well-established neighborhood names. I am not sure they are worthy of such a professional-looking map. On the other hand, it is also a modern-looking map, so maybe the names are appropriate. (I think DUMBO is traditionally called Vinegar Hill.)"DUMBO" is in widespread use. The "proper" name is Empire-Fulton Ferry; Vinegar Hill is east of there (Gold Street/Hudson Avenue). "Loisaida" has been out of common use since the 1980s, and even "Alphabet City" is being overtaken by "East Village." |
