If you have kept up with the posts of widecab5, who KNOWS exactly what's going on, he has stated for a fact that 32 cars of 8/4 car sets of R160's are replacing the remaining R42's at ENY. 18 cars "short?" Sure, via better equipment utilization. I'll submit this to you: ENY has had a higher spare factor ever since the first R143 was delivered. With the upcoming retirement of the remaining R42's, the reality of service requirements vs. the spare factor will be bought back to a realistic level. Don't forget the 4 car R143 set that has been o/s for 2 years will also be bought back at some point. |
