Chicago -> Sizable subway system, Metra Electric, and South Shore. The real downside is the summer heat, and I'm wondering if I'll have enough time to railfan and explore the city.Miami -> Hurricane? Too many pretty people? San Francisco -> That was so last summer. :-) Boston -> It falls into the day trip zone... Seattle -> Well, admittedly the light rail opens up this month, but I'd prefer to do that in conjunction with Portland and Vancouver. Plus, it kinda the time zone differences eat away time. Toronto -> Great for streetcars, but fugly subway cars unless you like the modern 75ft Brightliner look. Denver (per R 42 4787) -> Sizable light rail system even with frigging high floors. How are the summers up there, and despite being less dense than say Seattle or Toronto, does it have urban areas worth exploring? |
