On the 7 line there are a few locations between Hunterspoint and 5 Avenue that were used as turning loops when the line was a Steinway Trolley. The tail tracks after Times Square speak for themselves. After Queensboro Plaza there is some iron work that suggests there was a provision for a BRT/BMT crosstown El going south on Jackson Avenue heading to Brooklyn.

On the L line there was the surface line that went toward Canarsie Pier after Rockaway Parkway. Between Atlantic and New Lotts Aves there was a track connection between the BRT/BMT and the LIRR. And at Montrose Ave there was a temporary track connection to the LIRR there. And I think south of Montrose Ave there was a few feet of tunnel built when builders were going the wrong way toward Morgan Avenue.
