Problem is, little demand. It'd cost tens of millions of dollars to electrify the section between Yaphank and Riverhead (that's a long stretch, more than 15 miles, IIRC). All for only a few riders. Might as well take those funds and put it towards electrification of the Port Jeff, or even to Speonk, which is only slightly less wasteful. |
