And even better reasons to extend the juice there.Remember that third rail is LIRR's mode of electrification, so that means a costly substation every few miles. Electrifying by third rail to Riverhead and beyond would be nice, no doubt. But it is the lowest priority in terms of electrification. Also, the area around LIRR's Riverhead station may be the most decrepit of all of the areas around any of their stations. |
