The problem with electrification to Yaphank is that it doesn't make it any more desirable than Ronkonkoma, since the single track will limit service dramatically (unless a passing siding is introduced). It also doesn't address the problem of trains on this one line being overcrowded with people. Spreading out the demand on the one line still means trains enter Hicksville crush loaded. |
