The subway is the last great escape from the cellphone"I was trying to call you for an hour...why didn't you pick up your phone?" "Oh, I was in the subway". If the subways have complete coverage, millions of hounded executives and hen-pecked husbands will have no sanctuary. To say nothing of the assault on one's sanity being packed like proverbial sardines into the subway car with dozens of inane and loud conversations happening literally within inches of one's eardrums. WHy is our society so fixated on instant and constant communication? |
