The tunnel portal of the the IRT Subway was completed in 1904.
The 3rd ave El structure was completed to 149th St in 1889.

This is a pre WWI Post card image of the IRT Subway at 149th St. The 3rd Ave El structure appears in the center of the picture above the retaining wall. In 1916 the Bergen St cutoff structure would cover this portal entrance. The Bergen St cutoff structure was removed about 1951. The supporting columns of the structure were left in the walls of the buildings that were constructed alongside the subway ROW.

This is an overhead view of Bronx Hub area at 149th St shwoing (from the bottom left) the 3rd Ave El and the Bergen Cutoff diverging at 144th St on PROW. The 3rd Ave El proceeds north onto 3rd Ave to the 149th St station. The Bergen Cutoff Stucture (built in 1916) goes east to Willis Ave the curves on to Bergen St and follows the IRT Subway ROW to the Westchester Ave elevated structure. The 3rd Ave line 150th St connector (built in 1904) junction is North of the 149th St Station and goes east to the Westchester Ave structure. The 150th St connector and the Bergen Cutoff was a flying junction on a double deck el two track structure where it joined the Westchester Ave structure before ramping down to a three track structure at St Anns Ave as shown below.
