When the M8 trains debut MTA would have to rebuild both sets of 3rd rails on BOTH lines so that LIRR and MNRR trains could run on each others ROWs and where AMTRAK shares trackage with both of them.No! The plan - whether it will be actualized or not, we shall see - is for the M8s to be able to use both types of third rail. There is no plan to switch MNR's third rail to AMTK/LIRR style. |
