The upper level of that station was used as a station for a trolley line that ran north-south across the LIRR main Line. You mean that boxy bricked house on top of the station building ? A retired LIRR friend of mine told me that housed the original 600 volt apparatus for the trolley line. He said the apparatus is still there. Not sure if has been removed since. The cone shaped insulators are still in place on the north side wall. The trolley, from Amityville, had tracks where the north side parking lot is today. The line ran to Huntington if I'm not mistake. Bill "Newkirk" |
