Indeed.NJT won't lease any LIRR trains, though. Some people hold onto a fantasy of turning all the commuter rails around here into RER; but SNCF didn't destroy all of their commuter stations for the purposes of implementing RER nor replace all of their traditional commuter rail with RER. Don't we all have fantasies? One of mine was for the completion of the LIRR to Boston, via a tunnel under LI Sound to New Haven and then onto the former NH Air Line towards Boston, in order to achieve a 2-hour ride between NYP and BOS. This would mean the replacement of all third rail on the LIRR with overhead wire of course and the end of all diesel operations (we can start hauling around the C3s with ALP46As, huzzah huzzah). I also want to run the Royal Blue from Jersey City to Washington DC again. Ugh, me=t3h ph04m. |
