They allowed gallery cars all the way to South Bend, back when they borrowed Metra diesels." There will only be 14 NICTD bi-levels, yet they will add 15 percent to the total passenger carrying capacity. This is true only if they are used in the highest traffic load territory which is Gary to Chicago. Plus they cannot train with any present equipment. So maximum usage is two six car trains and two spares. If they were used east of Gary, that maximum "bang for the buck" wouldn't be realized. David Harrison |
