It speaks speculatively: In the latest attempt to solve the problem - the fourth, according to the Transit Authority - the company has devised a new contactor unit with shock absorbers to prevent bouncing. It will be tested in 50 subway cars for 90 days beginning this month and, if successful, will be installed on the other cars at no cost to the Transit Authority, according to Mr. Henderson. |
