If they ran this other SAS train (looks like U won't fly) at 10tph on the local tracks, the service would be sufficiently differentiated from other QB routes (1 seat ride to the East Side) to draw passengers from other routes.I see two obstacles to getting this to happen. The first is that the MTA has yet to commit to such a route. The second is where the line terminates. 179th could work, but getting one line past 71st, with two lines still terminating there, might be tricky. This is where a new three track, two island platform local terminal, on the NE corner of Jamaica Yard, that uses that yard's loop, could have high utility. |
