Fascinating, but there is no way that very wealthy and politically connected populations are going to tolerate living next to an elevated line. No way.The only possibility for els will remain on short stretches ducking underground quite fast, or through parkland or over roadways. Don't expect to do that through the east side of Manhattan Island unless you want to, say, build it over the FDR Drive, which has huge costs of its own. If you want a wild idea, expand Manhattan by adding on to its landmass and then run cut-and-cover subway on that new land. |
