Did they install A/C in the PCC's on that line as part of the upgrade?

I see a big thingy on the roof.

That "thingy" on the roof was there when the cars were built in the 40's. It is the housing for the interior fans.

Most of the time the fans do their job adequately, but in the summer, they make the car feel like one of SEPTA's Almond Joy Budds [a convection oven on rails], fortunately the A-M ride is short [12 minutes end-to-end] so it isn't too unbearable.

If the T is serious about air-conditioning the cars, then they better think about a complete rewiring and a voltage upgrade since today's equipment can eat a shitload of electric power.

Maybe they can get away with taking AC units out of their old RTS buses, or out of the Flyer trolleys in storage and install them on the A-M cars. It might just work if they try hard enough.
