I suspect that if geese had been aboard, their yelling might have called the predicament to the conductor's attention before any damage occurred. The train was backing into the Steamtown yard to participate in the ill-fated night photo session. Ill-fated in that tickets were $75 with the belief that the Reading F7A's and Jersey Central F3's would be present, along with additional cool stuff that also didn't show up allegedly because of government red tape (Steamtown is part of the National Park Service). All participants were to get a $35 refund because of the watered-down night photo roster. I don't know whether they got a further refund with the absence of the steam locomotive. Canadian Pacific Pacific 2317 was present, along with the three former Conrail business train E8's.
