That is where the tunnel was. It was of course outside of fare control since shoppers from Gimbles Basement could wander in and out of it.From the NYP side there were a few steps up (to the south) and then a turn into the narrow tunnel to the east. Probably up a few more steps IIRC, since it was at the Basement Level of the Hotel and of Gimbles, and these were above the transit level. On the HSq side there were steps down past Gimbles Basement entrys from the plaza between PATH Fare Control and IND Fare Control. IIRC, BMT fare control would have been further north. Remember, as built, the fare controls would still have been separate. ROAR |
