It was designed by the firm of McKim, Mead & White...I'd like to hear the Landmarks Commission's explanation why there are buildings in New York designed by McKim, Meade & White that are not landmarked. The developers should be ashamed of themselves. They can preserve the facade, and noticable architectuarl features of the interior, while constructing a 60 story building on the site. Costs money to do that? The city could provide tax abatements to defray the costs to do so. |
