The one disappointment of many people who ride a HSR for the first time is that you can't really call it a "scenic" ride. Unless there's WIDE open space trackside, you can't see anything. Anything even close to the track is just a blur.I've been on the TGVs many times and once on EuroStar. Absolutely amazing what can be done when the WILL to do it is there. ("Will," of course, includes the money to pay for it.) Here, we grumble endlessly about traffic, gas prices, congestion, airports, etc. Yet- as we've seen even on this board- people grumble with the same intensity at solutions. I think that's called NOT having your cake and NOT eating it either. |
