I don't know why you say my knowledge of NYC history needs updating. I'm aware of all the points you mentioned and only question one. Although Olmstead and Vaux may have designed Riverside Park, it was not developed as a park until Moses became Commissioner.While a few parks may have been added between 1811 and the 1930's, the fact remains that NYC was in dire need of more parks and did not have anywhere near the amount needed before the 1930s. |
