Why was a paper ticket cheaper than Oyster from Amersham to Baker Street?It wasn't, but I wanted to get back. I have an NR Young Person's Railcard, so get 33% off an off peak one day travelcard. Because the tube guys aren't bright I got zone A-D thrown in, but even without that, it's cheaper. I paid £4.80, whereas an off-peak Oyster return via zone 1 would be 25% more than that. Also, I would have capped my oyster anyway. I can't remember if I went on any non-Oyster pre-pay routes (I think I did New Cross - Charing Cross), but I also would have had less of a problem with that. |
