It was a nice station, but it closed because it was superfluous.Deliberately run-down more like. It'd've been much better if the expresses from the Midlands and the North had been diverted out of Euston and stopped at Camden Road (for the West End) and London Broad St instead. Actually, what I really object to is them demolishing the building (which was one of the most attractive stations in London), rather than reusing it like they did to Liverpool Exchange. Now, running the NLL through tubeless Hackney makes much better sense, and the Highbury & Islingtonn-Stratford stretch is the best-patronised part of the NLL. Well, the local trains make a certain sort of sense as an orbital route. |
