I *know* the answer to this one ... and it was the same reason for some of the REALLY weird colors for some of the El paintjobs too. MILITARY SURPLUS, dirt cheap ... I'd asked when I was working there, and that was the answer. The "interior paint" came largely from the NAVY (green, gray and the two shades of blue) and the brown, green and orange EL paint came from the ARMY so I was told. The primer was also NAVY surplus ... massive quantities of it, dirt cheap. |
