The "green" was NAVY ... at least the car interiors ... don't think I ever saw THAT on an EL ... the DARKER greem, yes - THAT was army on the steelwork. But the cars were painted with "institutional green" and the NAVY had a *LOT* of it ... same for the two tones of blue through the 60's ... I guess they painted destroyers with that stuff. It was lead/enamel-based, and rather resistant to chemical washdowns. And we all know where the DECK PAINT came from for the arnines. :) |
