Heh, pictures on nycsubway.org never seem to capture this level of neglect, except for pictures of R16's, which look like a strong breeze might have made them cave in at the end. I asked my mother to look at these (i was born in 85, so I don't remember this), and she said she remembers subway service like this. Even one scary incident on a dark car where a crazy man ran around looking up women's dresses (during rush hour). When she told my father, he was mad she had boarded a dark car, heh.Grafitti isn't really such a big deal in my mind. What is a big deal is dark cars, which is a real safety issue. And to think, some people say the the R142 is "too bright". Hahaha. |
