I used to always take photos on the platforms of GC, but of course that's a while back.
Penn Station was always a little tricky, even back in the 90's. The LIRR section was no problem, but Amtrak platforms always required you to have a ticket. What I would do in the 90's was go to that back passageway that led to some of the Amtrak platforms from the LIRR platforms. Once on the platforms of Amtrak, you were never bothered, but getting down there wasn't always easy.
Grand Central was never a problem either upstairs or downstairs.
That's what caught me by such surprise a year or two ago when I tried to take some photos on the platforms at GC. Within seconds a worker was on top of me.
