The basic problem was that remote towers did not have train identification, along with its presence at an interlocking. The problem was solved on the Flushing Line by using the Identra system.London Transport used a different system that dated to the 1930's. They used a primitive computer, based on a jacquard loom that identified train routes and automatically set the switch. It also rules for overriding merge order, if a train were late. |
