Posted by New Flyer #857 on Sat Oct 3 07:46:59 2026, in response to NYCT hiring fare checkers, posted by LuchAAA on Sat Oct 3 01:23:26 2026. Several times across Europe I've been inspected within the system despite having already used my fare card at a fare gate. (So I'm not counting Germany, Switzerland, etc. where there are no fare gates). One time the inspector was directly behind the fare gate - like 5 feet back - which really confused me at the time. So if he can see that the fare gate already opened for me, I guess all he could possibly be checking was that I wasn't illicitly using a special/half-fare card or something like that.In NYC they will need to be really well-trained for dealing with the public. They may need to be accompanied by actual police whenever possible. They should also probably document everything well so they are ready to address accusations of racism and the like. |
