To be fair, other first world countries built controlled access highway networks too. The autobahn is an obvious example, but the rest of Europe and Japan have extensive highway networks too. And later China.All of these countries continued to invest in trains. The reason that trains were worse off in the US and Canada is because our country is bigger and our cities farther apart. Also the United States was and is richer than Europe, we can afford more cars. |
