My father who started out as a Conductor and retired as a Motorman use to say “Standing near the edge of the platform should only be done if you want to take a chance of getting killed.” He also said “Leaning over and looking down the tracks to see if the train is coming is not going to make it come any faster.” Another factor to consider comes into play on railroad platforms. There non-stopping trains will pass through the station at high speed thereby creating a suction which can throw one off balance. Larry, RedbirdR33 |
