It seems to me that this proposal just reverts to some extent the original November 1967 routing where the D ran on the Brighton line and the B ran on the West End line. When the D ran on the Brighton line it always stopped at DeKalb Avenue as the track configuration required it to do. The N skipped DeKalb Avenue during rush hours and used the turnouts just north of Pacific Street (as it was known then) to reach the express tracks on its way to and from DeKalb Avenue so it could stop there during off peak hours. I am not sure how the B operated in the early days post Chrystie as the 57th St. station had not yet opened. |
