The 14th Street – Eastern District Line is extended from Montrose Avenue to Broadway Junction connecting to the Canarsie Line.I prefer Eastern District over Eastern Division. I wonder why they didn't open the extension in segments? You would think they would have used Myrtle Ave as a terminal using the layup track just beyond the station to relay train. 1977 – from The Book of Wrecks The last car of a Flatbush Avenue bound # 2 train derailed south of the Franklin Avenue Station at the point where the Nostrand Avenue Line branches off from the Eastern Parkway Line. The consist of the train was (s) 9203-2, 9087-6, 9073-2, 9052-3, 8885-4. R-33 8884 was badly damaged and was reportedly scrapped on the spot. I'm guessing the #2 train was going over the switch much faster than 10 mph? |
