The renaming process required streets to run north-south and avenues to run east-west. However boulevards could and did run in any direction. Therefore Lefferts Avenue became Lefferts Boulevard and Parsons Avenue became Parsons Boulevard and Bowne Avenue became Bowne Street. Whitestone Avenue was renamed as an extension of Union Street. |
