As the City grew after the WWII and the 50s economic boom creating more jobs and population, ridership would have grown with it (Roosevelt Island e.g.) But we'll never know. What we do kn ow is that it was a huge mistake tearing down the 2 east side ELs. One (2nd Ave IMO) should have been left up and modernized, staying in operation until a full length 2nd Ave subway is built. |
