Point well taken on the 2nd Avenue EL (especially since south of 23rd Street it actually was on 1st Avenue), but in the end, and mainly because of potential connections to it 3rd Avenue would have made more sense to keep and rebuild.And one note: In any such rebuild, originally the 60th Street likely would have been 59th-60th, however, once 63rd Street opened then that stop likely would have been moved to initially allow transfers to the (F) at 63rd and the (Q) once the SAS opened. 60th-63rd on such an EL now would likely have been the busiest station on such version of the 3rd Avenue EL because of all the transferring between lines (including via a roundabout route being able to transfer between the Lexington and 6th Avenue lines without exiting fare control). |
