1877 – from The Book of Second Runs

Morris Street Station on the 9th Avenue El reopens. The station had previously been opened from August 15, 1872 to March 19, 1873. It was closed two months after the line was extended south to Bowling Green (nee No. 7, Broadway). It would remain open until 1879 when it was closed to facilitate the construction of the junction with the 6th Avenue Line.

1920 – from The Book of First Runs

The New Haven Railroad opens a new depot in New Haven, Connecticut. It is a four story brick building known as “Union Station”. It replaced the previous depot which was destroyed by fire on May 19, 1918.

1962 – from The Book of Wrecks

A fire in the Clifton Shops of the Staten Island Railway destroys seven of the ME-1 electric mu cars; 306, 311, 318, 326, 338, 372 and 379. This leaves SIRT with only forty-eight cars.

2007 – from The Book of Last Runs (In Memoriam)

Mr. Dante Angerville passed away today at the age of 19. He was a fine young gentleman and an accomplished rail photographer. Our community is the poorer by his departure but we are all the richer for having known him.
