As Randyo stated, the old RR route can't be brought back.There would be no maintenance/storage facility at either end. It would cost big money to have so many traveling put-ins, and transfers. As for weekends, this has been brought up many times on this board. Queens Blvd can't support more than one service on weekends due to GO's. Speaking of weekends, R service is terrible on weekends because there is only one local service on Queens Blvd. Trains are very crowded and if there is a delay it results in longer waits between trains. 15-20 minute waits are common on weekends. I'd say most of the ridership on the R is in Queens not Brooklyn, so scheduling a few to turn at Whitehall on weekends makes sense but it won't happen. |
