They probably didn't want to fire him right away, because that would have been an admission that an MTA employee made a serious mistake. And then he quit long before the trial.As for criminal charges, there presumably simply wasn't enough evidence for a charge of criminally negligent homicide. None of which change the possibility, the truth of which we can never know, that if he had put the brakes into emergency as soon as possible, the toll might have been less. |
