All it takes is one situation where a 2nd conductor if there would have prevented an incident from escalating into something worse. While thousands of people would ride uneventfully on a one T/O train, its the one incident that would provoke the protests.Like with platform gates. Millions ride daily w/o any problems. But as soon as one gets pushed on the tracks and meets a violent death, people and some politicos will scream for platform gates. Like I said, it only takes one. The needs of the one etc... |
