NIMBYs and the politicians in the area killed the idea of extending even though extension was heavily supported by the Mayor and Governor. The opposition was even against a proposed route extending the Astoria Line along 31st Street onto Con Edison's property at the edge of Astoria and then east along 19th Avenue to the Marine Air Terminal. |
