The last time I rode the Culver Shuttle was in October, 1974. By that time the stations were in a state of dangerous disrepair. Platform lights out for days at a time. Crumbling wooden platforms. I'm surprised the Shuttle lasted into 1975.There was some kind of rail service along what was the Shuttle route on/above 37 Street from 1875 to 1975. The PPCI surface steam in 1875 to BRT surface electric to BMT elevated in 1975. That's 100 years, and the only 50 since the shuttle was shut down. |
