It is a very car-centric city. I used the buses myself for a while, and it was always an option even though I had a car. The last place I lived was between 2 bus lines about 2 blocks from my house each direction so it could be convenient, except that when I wanted to go home I didn't want to wait even 10 minutes for a ride that was only about 15. OTOH, when I go to Manhattan from Brooklyn now I don't mind waiting 10 minutes for the train since it is at least a half hour and more like 45 minutes for the ride. |
