1972 – from The Book of Last Runs

Penn Central passenger service on the Harlem Division between Dover Plains and Chatham, New York is abruptly terminated. The last southbound (railroad east) train was No. 922. It departed from Chatham at 6:55 AM and arrived at Grand Central Terminal at 10:48 AM.
About midday Penn Central received permission to discontinue the service form the courts. When passengers and crew returned to GCT that afternoon they were informed that the northbound train No. 935 would operate only as far as Dover Plains. The railroad made no provision for passengers who wished to travel north of that point.
