Tuscarora Almanac – May 14, 1883 – The Book of First Runs

Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad

A Lackawanna Railroad subsidiary, the New York, Lackawanna & Western Railroad completes construction of a line between Binghamton and Buffalo. The new line is 214 miles long and enables the Lackawanna to run through train service between Buffalo, New York and Hoboken, New Jersey.

Brooklyn-Manhattan Transit Corporation

The five section articulated train known as the "Green Hornet” was delivered today to the 38 Street Docks in Brooklyn. It was built by the Pullman-Standard Car Manufacturing Company. After testing it will enter revenue service on the #13 Fulton Street Line. The car is numbered 7000A-8000B-9000C-8001B-7001A. (It will be re-numbered 7003 A,B,C,B1,A1 in 1937).

United Electric Railways discontinues streetcar service in Providence, Rhode Island.

The Worcester Street Railway discontinues service on its last remaining trolley line, Rt. 24 Green Hill – Columbus Park Park.

The last of 620 M-1 “Metropolitan” electric MU cars went into service
today on the Long Island Railroad.

Also on this date the last of the MP-54 electrics were retired.
