The ferry boat is an interesting story. I read that it sank during a storm in August, 1968. Within a year the wooden superstructure was almost completely gone. I also read that the Parks Service wanted to reuse the slip where it sank and proceeded with a delicate salvage operation to remove the remaining hull in 2009.
