Not only that but unlike the BMT and IRT prewar cars which had the lighting circuits wired in groups of 5 so that standard 120V bulbs could be used, the IND lighting circuits were wired so that all 20 lights were on a single circuit. The R-1/9 bulbs were only 30V so they couldn't be used in standard household light fixtures anyhow because that would burn out instantly.
